Crystal Clear - 5 Ways To Use The Good Stuff

Crystal Clear - 5 Ways To Use The Good Stuff

Crystal Clear is the original name we gave to Sodium Percarbonate, because the stuff is just amazing and useful.

1. LAUNDRY SOAK & STAIN REMOVER

Not only does percarbonate remove most stains, it can remove yellowing or greying from pillows, doonas, sheets, tablecloths - you name it!

The bath tub is a great place to soak larger items, but any sink/container will do. Simply add approx. 1-2 tablespoons per 5 litres of hot water (I only used 1/4 cup in above example). Now you should let is soak for as along as possible & you will see the fabrics whiten before your very eyes.

It's also colour-safe & can brighten your coloured clothing. It does not degrade fabric or strip colour unlike chlorine bleach, but you should still test colourfastness before using.

BONUS TIP: Kids toys & teddy bears enjoy a good hygienic soak in Crystal Clear.

Percarbonate Needs To Heat To 'Activate It

Most commercial whiteners like Vanish Napisan have Sodium Percarbonate as the key ingredient. However, they also include other fillers & bleach activators, so you generally need more.

You only need a small amount of Crystal Clear for big results, but you will need to use water around 40+ degrees to activate the bleach.

2. POWERFUL DEGREASER

You don't have to limit this super soaking ability to the Laundry! Crystal Clear is a powerful degreaser for oven racks, pots & pans, utensils etc.

Just remember you need HOT water to activate it, the hotter the better!

3. DIY DISHWASHER TABLETS

Most commercial dishwasher tablets like Finish Powerball will have percarbonate as a major ingredient due it its degreasing & disinfecting power.

Now you know their secret ingredient, you can make your own dishwashing powder or tablets using just a few ingredients & in only a few minutes. Not only is this a non-toxic, waste free solution for your kitchen – it will save you money!

You can also use this powder directly in the sink for hand washing & is brilliant on greasy/ food stained pots & pans. If you have sensitive skin, you may wish to wear gloves as this is slightly alkali & could potentially irritate. On the other hand, I find it cleansing and have no issues without gloves.

4. HANDMADE LAUNDRY POWDER

You will usually find percarbonate in the top shelf laundry powders, but it’s so good it’s usually sold separately as ‘stain remover’ or ‘laundry soak’.

Give your laundry powder a boost with just a small amount of Crystal Clear.

Even better, make your own Laundry Powder without harsh surfactants, fragrance or cheap synthetic chemicals. It really is simply a matter of mixing a few ingredients in a bowl & your done.

Visit here for the recipe, its an easy one you can't really stuff this up!

5. HEAVY DUTY CLEANING PASTE

Set yourself up with a batch of 'Laundry Butter' Cleaning Paste. You can make 2kg+ with just 1 cup of Washing Soda, Borax & Coconut Soap Flakes.

To supercharge your 'laundry butter' simply mix a tiny amount of Crystal Clear & boiling water to the paste you will be using. Let it bubble & sit for a minute as it will thicken up. Then simply apply to the stain, surface or area you are wishing to clean, let sit, scrub & then rinse.

Use it in the kitchen to clean soiled pots/pans, greasy range hoods, oven racks, the oven, bins, pantry and the sink

Use it in Laundry as a soak and stain remover.  In the Bathroom clean bathtubs, basins, showers, toilets, sinks, taps, grout, tiles and even the toilet brush.

IMPORTANT: Make sure you dispose of any leftover paste that has activated Percarbonate as it will not be stable to store.
